Dr. M.Chandrasekaran

1971: Joined MBBS at Madras Medical College.

1981: Qualified as a General Surgeon (MS -General Surgery) from Madras

Medical College

1981 to 1987: Worked as an Assistant Professor in General Surgery at

1987: Joined the very 1st Department of Endocrine Surgery in India that

was started at Madras Medical College.

1999: Took over as Professor and Head of the Department of Endocrine

Surgery at Madras Medical College

2007: Professor M.Chandrasekaran founded the M.Ch Endocrine Surgery,

a surgical superspeciality course at The Tamilnadu Dr M.G.R.Medical

University in the year 2007.

In this history of MMC, only 7 people have the honour of accomplishing this

amazing feat of starting a new surgical superspeciality course without

possessing a degree in the same

2010: The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow

conferred upon him FRCS (Glasg) in the year 2010.

Having performed over 7,500 Thyroidectomies, Dr.M.Chandrasekaran has

one of the largest one man series in India.

He is the founding secretary and past President of the Indian Association

of Endocrine Surgeons.
