SERVICE PARTICULARS :
• Joined Govt. service in Jan 1973 & successfully completed nearly 34 years of Govt. Service in Sept. 2006 before superannuation as clinician, administrator & academician with teaching experience of undergraduate & postgraduate & also as examiner for UG & PG
• During my tenure of Govt. Service joined Dept. of Vascular Surgery in 1982 first of its kind in whole India exclusively for vascular diseases in the premier institution Madras Medical College & Govt. General Hospital. I was actively involved during my humble tenure of 25 yrs of service in the same dept. where I dedicated myself in the development & the services of the dept. including Post graduate training.
• Headed the Dept. as the first qualified vascular surgeon since 1993 till superannuation in 2006. .
• After successfully completing superannuation from Tamilnadu Govt. Service had an opportunity to work as founder Dean of RAK College of Medical Sciences, RAKMHSU-UAE for 3 yrs from August 2007 to August 2010 to develop its First Medical College in RAK, UAE to fulfil the vision & mission of the Ruler of RAK & also Chancellor of University His Highness Sheik Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi
ACHIEVEMENTS :
• During my tenure in the Dept. of Vascular Surgery my former respected Prof. T.P JACOB & myself were instrumental in initiating in starting super speciality course M.ch Vascular Surgery first of its kind in whole country approved by Medical Council of India in 1985.
I appreciate the pioneer Prof,T.P Jacob following the footsteps of Late Prof.H.T,Veera Reddy and headed the department with his simplicity & vision for Vasculer Surgery & its growth & Service to Humanity with Peripheral vascular diseases.
Prof. T.P Jacob was honoured with PADMASHRI AWARD in Medical field for his services in Vascular Surgery speciality.
• Was also successful in representing & getting separate identity to Vascular speciality from cardiovascular speciality in India by Medical Council of India
• Was instrumental in starting a separate society known as 'VASCULAR SOCIETY OF INDIA' in the year 1994 and conducted the 'First National Conference of Vascular Surgeons at Madras Medical College as the Chairman of the Organising Committee. Was elected as the founder secretary of VSI to carry out major responsibility of propagating this speciality throughout India. Ever since then conducted successful annual conferences in all important major cities covering of whole of India.
• Pursued & started 'Fellowship Program In Vascular Surgery' under the National Board of Examinations - New Delhi
• Organised many National Vascular Conferences & also CME & Vascular workshop for the benefit of postgraduate students.
• Conducted workshops, Vascular & Endovascular at Madras Medical College.
• Conducted Indo-UK Vascular workshop at Madras Medical College in1993.
• Conducted Indo-Japan workshop at Madras Medical College in1994.
• Conducted Indo-China workshop at Madras Medical College in1995.
• Conducted Chennai - Yamanishi workshop at Madras Medical College in 1996.
• Invited many Eminent Vascular surgeons from different countries to the Department of Vascular Surgery and conducted Guest lectures. All of them highly appreciated the services being given in this exclusive Vascular Dept.
• Contributed Vascular Chapter in Text Book of Surgery by ASI
• Helped in preparation & bringing out Manual of Vascular Surgery by Vascular Surgeons of India - 2010.

• Was appointed as MCI Inspector for super speciality course (Vascular Surgery) by Medical Council of India.
On behalf of Medical Council of India inspected various institutions like Nizams Hospital Hyderabad, Rajaji Hospital Madurai to start the super speciality PG programme.
• Member of the expert panel for Vascular Speciality in National Board of Examination - New Delhi.
• Was appointed as Inspector of National Board New Delhi for Fellowship programme
On behalf of National Board inspected Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi, NIMS Hyderabad, Mahaveer Jain Hospital Bangalore for starting Fellowship programme in Peripheral vascular Surgery

• Participated in various National & International Conferences and presented scientific papers & gave guest lectures & Chaired surgical & vascular symposiums & sessions.
• Was invited as only eminent & pioneer vascular surgeon from India during First Congress Of Asian Vascular Society held in Japan in 1994 and was elected as Secretary General of India for Asian Vascular Society.
• Later during the International Congress of Asian Vascular Society held in Philippines, Manila in the year 2000 and was elected as President Elect of the Asian Vascular Society and became one of the Board of Directors of AVS.
• As a board of Directors of AVS was invited to various countries in Asia like Japan, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia for AVS Board meetings for discussing various avenues & growth of the society to expand globally.
• Participated in Scientific sessions and workshops in the International Conference European Society of Vascular Surgery in Switzerland in 2001.
• Took over as the President of Asian Vascular Society during International Congress of AVS held in Singapore in 2002.
• Invited as guest speaker during the International Congress of Angiology held in 2003 in Hong Kong.
• Was invited as Guest Speaker by King Khalid University Hospital, Saudi Arabia during 5th International Symposium in 2003
• As AVS President hosted & organised 6th International Congress of AVS in India in 2004 & invited many international delegates during which then President of India HIS EXCELLENCY HONBLE’ PRESIDENT OF INDIA DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM was the chief guest and it was a grand success.
• Was invited as immediate Past president of AVS to inaugurate the scientific session of 7th International Congress of AVS in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

• Recipient of TWO APPRECIATION AWARDS by HIS EXCELLENCY HONBLE’ PRESIDENT OF INDIA DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM for the contribution towards the development of Speciality & Society both in Asia and India during the inaugural function of 6th International Congress of Asian Vascular Society in November 2004 in India-Bangalore
• Also received an ‘Appreciation Memento’ by the former PRESIDENT OF INDIA HIS EXCELLENCY HONBLE' Late THIRU K.R.NARAYANAN during the VSI conference held at Delhi in 1996 for the efforts of bringing this society to such popular height for the cause of reaching its services to poor cross section of suffering vascular patients in India.
• Was awarded ‘NATIONAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE’ by the Honble’ Minister of Health, Govt. of Tamilnadu during the IAOS Conference -2004, Chennai.
• Was Honoured by Former Honble’ Health Minister of Tamilnadu in recognition of the contribution in Vascular Surgery in Madras Medical College during Hospital function in 2003.
• Was awarded 'DEANS COMMENDATION CERTIFICATE' during the college day function for the dedicated services being rendered for the cause of Medical Education & Health Care delivery in the field of Vascular Surgery at Madras Medical College & Govt. General Hospital, Chennai in 2001.
• Was Honoured with Oration Award (H.T.V.R) during the VSI Conference held in India in 2008.
• Was recently honoured with “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Vice Chancellor of the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R University Dr.Mayil Vahanan Natrajan on the MMC Alumini Day held on 9th June 2011.
